Level 2 Coaching Course at OBS " Day 3 Final Day Morn"
We woke up at 7.15am, after we done our stuff and taken our breakfast. All of us met Meng teck at Swimming pool, we geared up our self and pick our paddle proceed to OBS Sea side.
Once we reached the sea side, we placed down our paddle and pick back our own kayak in ready position. And we proceed to Meng teck gathering area for the final briefing for the rescue. He briefted us that he want to just see our reaction in the rescue and he also want to see our sence of argency. Also he told us that he wouldn't teach us our to do the rescue and he expected us to do a good one, because we were already a trainer.
After his briefing, we bring our own kayak to the ram and lanched off for our rescue. (This is just an Emergency Scenerio) On the rescue process, we did " ALL IN RESCUE " (Everybody capsize together). Followed by "X -rescue" (Single man rescue), everybody was recovered sucessfully. Left a pair of them was drifted towards the pontoon, one of us activated the "Towline" to hook on the rescuer kayak and the rescuer continue on his rescue. (ANCHORED TOW: Is to preventing the rescuer drifting to the rock)
Due to the drift was strong, we followed up hooked up the towing person to help up on the Anchored Tow too, I'm the last towing person at the extremely front of the kayak. (Standard Tow: Just hooked on the kayak and towing forward only) After the rescue as been done, Meng teck gave us another scenerio. Which is the victim was injuried. So we use patient Tow to tow around the Bouy, I'm the most extremely front, my job is to make sure that the last kayak is not heat on the bouy or stuck at the obsticle.And i was tow the whole grp back to the gathering area.
when we reached the gathering area we unhooked the kayak frm the front to the last person and we rap back our towline into the tow bag. After we done the towing rescue, we was rested for a few mins. Meng teck share with us a various rescue. Eskimo Bow Rescue, Eskimo hand rescue, Eskimo side rescue. we all done it.
After all the rescue Meng teck share with us another difficult emergency senerio, one of our trainer capsize and unconcious victim, he was appointed me as an IC of the rescue. We managed to rescue the kayak but we let of experience to rescue victim due to the victim weight quite heavy. Mengteck he show us how he rescue the victim, he was form a rafted kayak with zhihao and he lefted and pull the victim up to the deck of the kayak and keep the victim facing up the sky and the job is done.
After he debrief us on the sea, we lanched our kayak back to OBS ram and we washed the kayak put back the kayak rack, we brought our paddle and vest back to the swimming pool. Everyone was exausted, when we reached the swimming pool mengteck was gave us another final debrief. He also shared with us some of the precaution and coaching point. Like when ever new satuation happen must be cool, and always coach student especially rescue, must have our own self backup in case of student cant do it or any satuation happen, so that at least we can help to solved on time.
After the debrief we went for our lunch.
